Instrument Rating
Train with a pilot who flies single-pilot IFR for a living.
Who it's for
Private pilots who want to fly in the clouds and manage an instrument flight on their own. This is the area Doug is most focused on teaching.
How Doug teaches it
- Built around Doug's experience flying single-pilot IFR for FedEx and U-Haul
- Emphasis on managing the whole flight when you are the only pilot
- The same efficient, safety-first approach, A to Z
FAA minimum experience
These are the main legal minimums under 14 CFR 61.65, not a prediction of how long your training will take. Doug can walk you through the full requirements.
- Hold at least a Private Pilot certificate
- 50 hours of cross-country time as pilot in command
- 40 hours of actual or simulated instrument time
- 15 hours of instrument training with an authorized instructor
- A 250-nautical-mile IFR cross-country flight
